Individual session

ÂEvery meeting between you and professional from the service, aimed at provision of mental health help, is called “session”. Standard duration of every individual session is 45 minutes. This duration is seen as optimum to guarantee the quality of the processes of counselling and therapy. At the first session you will have your mental health problems initially assessed and presented as a formulation (it is assessment session – clinical assessment of a mental health state, assessment of a risk, assessment of individual’s psychosocial needs and/or other type of specialized assessment). Your first session could be enough to preclude any further contacts (this single session could include making a diagnosis and preparing a whole case formulation, making a prognosis, giving an advice and suggestions or referring to other service or other professional). Your first session could also end with planning of the further treatment, help and care, if necessary in the future (establishing of a therapeutic plan). Medicines are rarely prescribed during the first counseling session, unless cases of well known problem, where permanent supportive treatment is needed. The major goal of the first counseling session is to let making a case formulation, to be a basis for later developed therapeutic plan. More sessions are needed sometimes for achieving this goal.

Home visits

If you are not able to come on the spot and to see a professional in the office of “Adaptacia”, you can receive professional mental health help as a part of home visit. Every home visit must be planned and arranged for in advance.

Psychosocial rehabilitation

“Adaptacia” has developed social rehabilitation and integration programs, aimed at overcoming of negative social consequences, almost always accompanying mental illness. The target group of these programs comprises patients with serious difficulties in their social functioning because of suffering from chronic mental illness. Due to prejudices and intolerant attitude of the environment, mentally ill people often lose their job and friends and live their lives in isolation and poverty, becoming victims of these societal prejudices to big extent. The role of psychosocial rehabilitation programs is to facilitate establishing of a friendly environment, to allow ill people to take risks and experiment practicing new social roles. Taking part in these programs is aimed at letting participants train and recover social skills, lost as a result of chronic illness, as well spending of a part of a leisure time in real social environment, ensuring equal rights for participation, support and possibilities for personal expression. The program includes the following modules: Social Club, Art Therapy, Video Club, Group for training in skills, necessary for independent living (coping with everyday requirements, running the household, communication skills), Job seeking help, and Training in recognizing warning signs of imminent relapse and preventing it skills. English language and PC skills courses are organized periodically. Referral to modules of rehabilitation programs is made after consulting a psychiatrist and a social worker. Psychosocial rehabilitation programs usually offer group sessions (comprising 10-12 participants) 2 to 4 hours long. Psychosocial rehabilitation programs are most useful when attended 2 to 4 times weekly for 3 to 6 months (it depends also on the protocol of various programs).
